Thordon bearings for river mechanisms and locks

The bearings developed by Thordon are designed for water related applications – marine, hydro turbines, pumps – and are therefore particularly well suited for river mechanisms and locks.

For these applications, the ThorPlas-Blue material is used, which generally replaces the old metal grease or insert bearings. Because ThorPlas-Blue is a homogeneous material, it is far superior to metal bushings with inserts, especially for oscillating mechanisms with a small angular range.

Thordon ThorPlas-Blue bearings are designed for use in dry, wet or submerged environments, in all cases without lubrication and therefore without pollution. They operate under the following conditions and with the following benefits:

• non-metallic bearing bushes : no oil or grease lubrication
• very high resistance to abrasive wear in dry or wet operation
• resistant to water containing abrasive particles, hydrocarbons and various chemicals
• particularly suitable for dry or mixed operation on oscillating mechanisms and slow rotations
• for new equipment or replacement of greased metal bearings, load up to 45 MPa min.
